Digiboil/used as a Scalder
This product has more than exceeded our expectations! This original purchase was made because we were scalding on a propane grill with a big turkey pot, but that was hard to regulate for as many chickens as we were butchering at one time. On a whim we got the Digiboil to try....when I tell you we have been more than amazed, well we have been! Not only does it hold the temperature PERFECT for the scalding process, it also doubles to do big batches of chicken broth after butcher day (of course with a good scrub-a-dub first)! We have now invested in 2 because we love them so much! The original use is for breweries, so don't be alarmed if you see alcohol references and no chickens, this was an experiment that actually went right! Chicken Plucker Machine
If you have ever had the "pleasure" of hand-plucking a
chicken (much respect to those that have the patience but
we are not in that category) this works so fast in comparison.
That being said, if you were just doing a handful of backyard
chickens I'm not sure if the price is justified (your call) but anything
over 10 chickens at a time I would say is worth it! This is so fast in
comparison it seems unreal! And it is super easy to operate it
(this is my son's job he has been doing since he was 8). The
cornish cross chickens fit great 2 at a time, and they don't
have as many feathers. It works on fully-feathered chickens,
but does tend to clog more frequently when it shoots the
feathers out. For us this is a MUST! For more product
