We are the Robertson family from Stuart, VA where we have lived most of our lives. We are living in a multi-generational homestead, with 9 of us in a normal-sized home.  I know, I know, we are probably sounding crazy right now because that is what we get most of the time....but I prefer the way our loan officer put it....we are unconventional. In 2019 we had the crazy idea to start a farm/homestead but we all wanted to do it together. We did a trial run living together for a year to see if it was even possible, we found out we could, then we fully committed to remodel a family home and moved in 2020.  We share a love for Jesus (the Hope) planting, gardening, and raising animals (the Harvest) and we love the idea of a self-sustaining lifestyle (the Homestead). We love our chickens, and we offer eggs and meat chicken. We have goats that we have for personal use for goat's milk and making our own cheese. We have a cat named Sasha, and our newest addition Abby (our dog) is a good fit to our little homestead. We also have a garden, and make and bake made-from-scratch cookies and sourdough bread. We have products that we make and sell to try to help sustain our homestead. Some of us have day jobs, and some are fully working off the homestead. We are working toward growing bigger gardens and working on more of our meat birds. Things we are striving for in the future is helping our community have healthier options to chose from.  We would like to even get some conferences together to share and spread the knowledge and resources for homesteading and skills that are hard to find these days, such as canning, breadmaking, herbalism, and chicken butchering. We believe that homesteading is a lifestyle choice and we want to encourage and uplift others that choose to do that, mainly we want to help others along the way, not compete.
